Colours 2013

The Colours Boat Races

Saturday 16th March


The Colours races are one of the most important events in the rowing calendar for Trinity and UCD; a test of skill, strength and sheer determination, crew from the two colleges battle it out over a course from O'Connell Bridge to the black gates of Guinness brewery at St James' Gate. Spectators cheer from the banks, the bridges and the two open top buses which follow the races along the quays, not to mention the peloton of bicycles weaving alongside. There are four races on the day, one each for the Novice and Senior men and women. The Women's Novice race, for the Sally Moorhead Trophy, will be contested at 12:45pm followed by the Dan Quinn Shield for Novice Men at 1:15pm. DULBC's novice women will be hoping to retain the title they won in the 2012 race. The Women's Senior race, for the Corcoran Cup, with take place at 1:45pm followed by the Gannon Cup, Men's Senior race, at 2:15pm. A prize giving ceremony, dinner and night out will follow.
